Agern - Bartender

Under the direction of the Front-of-House Management Team, the Bartender is responsible for mixing and serving drinks to our patrons.  Must keep an overview of the bar; keeping it stocked at all times, while providing a great Guest experience as specified in the SOP (Standard operational procedure). The bartender is responsible for keeping the bar clean and organized as outlined in the daily cleaning checklist.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handles all guest concerns and complaints in a professional manner and further communicates these to the management team.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment; Keeps the bar organized, stocked and clean at all times.
  • Stays guest-focused and nurtures an excellent Guest experience.
  • Assesses customers’ needs and preferences and makes recommendations.
  • Checks customers’ identification to confirm legal drinking age.
  • Creates exciting and innovative cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages; plans and presents the bar menu.
  • Maintains a visible presence at the bar and regular guest interaction during business periods.
  • Maintains daily knowledge of all company promotions, tournaments, special events, etc.
  • Makes sure MeyersUSA’s highest quality standards of Beverage service and products are maintained.
  • Takes orders and serves all food and beverage requests using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Controls guest checks and secures proper payment.
  • Communicates all special orders with the kitchen.
  • Completes all set-up and closing duties in a timely fashion.
  • Is familiar with all menus; menu specifications; menu abbreviations.
  • Is familiar with all POS systems, pre-check and cashiering procedures.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of the different types of liquors, beers, creative infusions and/or garnishes and must be willing to continuously learn more about the products and the bartender profession.
  • Participates in tastings, master classes and similar events with the purpose of improving product knowledge.
  • Maintains knowledge of menu cuisine, wine list, special items, etc. featured in the restaurant.
  • Demonstrates a courteous, friendly, congenial, polite, professional and efficient attitude.
  • Is responsible for compliance with all regulatory procedures and departmental requirements, including but not limited to Liquor Commission Regulations, Health, Sanitation, Franchise, Responsible Alcohol Service and ServSafe standards.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working during weekends, holidays and peak business periods may be required, including working any shift/day designated by the department.
  • Customer service orientation should consist of organization, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to work in teams.
  • The Bartender must have solid experience with:
    • Mixing cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. Both classic and modern styles.
    • Infusing alcohol and syrups.
    • Organizing and preparing daily mise en place for the bar.
    • Running the dispense bar and providing excellent beverage and guest service, even during peak periods.
    • Coffee-making of both espresso-based and pour over.
    • Wine service and knowledge of both old-world and new-world wines as well as knowledge on beers and ciders from American micro-brewers.
  • Must comply with all beverage regulations according to MeyersUSA culinary departmental standards.
  • It is the responsibility of the Bartender to stay current with techniques, preparations, ingredients and any other topics related to all areas of beverages.
  • The ability to understand requests, ask questions and ensure guest’s satisfaction with sufficient English skills is required.
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure is also required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Bartender position of a comparable restaurant or establishment is required. Must demonstrate good knowledge of the different types of liquor and cocktails as well technical skills for mixing cocktails.
